RitualSpace

The ideas and content of this site were started in March 04 and this version, started in May 2006, is a make over of the origonal site which itself had changes made over time.

The site started with four main aims:

  • to clarify and explore my own ideas on ritual in a 21st century Ireland, to raise awareness of the importance of ritual in our lives and to exchange ideas with others of like mind.
  • to collect an archive of rituals, mainly aimed at Irish roots, for christian, celtic christian and celtic rituals but also of interest, perhaps, to our newest imigrants. This is to keep a store of rituals that were used and may still be used in rural Ireland around animals, plant, people, healing and the marking of the seasons and celtic festivals. These are in real danger of being lost as Ireland continues to change as has already happened quiet a lot in the last 10 years or so.
  • as a means of connecting with others to create and facilitate rituals.
  • to raise awareness of the earth, its produce and the rituals around food.

At this point I have dropped the idea of the archive as it hasn't taken off but the other 3 are still very much to the fore.

With the challenges facing our world and us as human beings in it, the central aim is to promote ritual. Unless we take the inner journey, each of us and as groups, how can we hope to reallign ourselves in tune with the world we inhabit? How can we sustain ourselves on that journey without strong ritual? The ritual page will explore this on an ongoing basis as an unfolding thought process for myself. Feel free to send me comments on this as it emerges.

The site will be more successful in these aims with the interaction of those who use it!

The fact that you have visited this site and have thought about ritual has helped raise awareness already. Thanks for taking the time. Why not leave your comments in the guestbook? Guest Book
